Golden Hand Slot Machine

If you like your slots classic and loaded with fruit, Golden Hand should be right up your street. This simple online casino game features a golden hand, funnily enough, plus a bunch of fruit including cherries along with green clovers and red 7s. All the symbols you’d expect to find on an old school pokie in other words. Before the game starts, you’ll also find that there’s an intro screen difficulty selector.

This shows up on all of the games that Casino Technology have released and gives you the option of choosing between Easy, Soft, Smooth, Smart or Hard. By default, the game starts on Soft accompanied by text which reads “Like the soft ride? Day long amusement but with one shot more excitement.” Goodness knows what that’s supposed to mean. Click on the green Start Play button when you’re ready and some misspelled pop-up text will inform you of your max bet and maximum number of lines. “Avaliable [sic] Denominations” it reads. Oops.

Pointing the Finger

Golden Hand by Casino Technology is an interesting game, it would be fair to say that much. This is a slot which looks and plays very cheaply, just like the other games this developer have put their name to, but despite its low-key graphics and sound, there’s still fun to be had from playing it. Although the game has been designed in HTML5 to be mobile-compatible, it doesn’t look so good on desktop devices. For some reason the board hogs the left hand side of the screen rather than going full-screen. This seems pointless and detracts from the playing experience.

The free Golden Hand slot has 5 lines and a bet that can range between 0.01 and 100 per line, allowing you to wager up to 500 coins at a time. If you choose to play for free though the coin size will be capped at the minimum 0.01 and pushing the red bet button will have no effect. Click on the menu button in the bottom left however and you’ll find a max bet button which allows you to wager the full 100 coins per line after all. It makes no sense why the regular red button shouldn’t work in demo mode. In fact, does it even work when you play for real money?

The Hand That Pays You

Click on the paytable button and you’ll be taken to a neatly designed paytable screen. In fact there’s a case for saying that the paytable looks neater than the actual game board. The aim of the game, as it always is with classic slots, is to match 3 of a kind. Peaches, oranges, lemons or apples are worth 2,500 for 3 on a line, whereas melons and cherries – available as both red cherries and black cherries – are worth just 2,000. That leaves just two symbols to contend with: 4-leaf clovers which are worth 5,000 and red 7s which come in at 10,000.

There are two wild symbols, one which appears as the golden hand and another which simply reads wild. The former will appear on the central reel only and will substitute for all other symbols. The way in which the two wild symbols operates is extremely complex, or at least it is based on the page-long description given in the paytable. Your best bet is simply to roll the reels and see how you get on. It is only a 3-reel slot after all; how complicated can it get?

The Alternative Options

If you’ve enjoyed playing the medium variance Golden Hand, take a look at Break Da Bank 3 Reel by Microgaming. It’s an extremely popular slot that’s stuffed with bar symbols and has an RTP that comes in at 95.75%. Other alternatives to the medium variance Break Da Bank are Playtech’s Rock N Roller, a medium volatility game whose RTP can go as high as 96.84%. You really don’t have to look far for similar slots to try, whether it’s Neptune’s Kingdom by Playtech or Novomatic’s Ultra Hot, a 5 payline slot with high volatility.

Golden Hand Conclusion

Golden Hand is a very simple classic slot, but it’s one that’s fun to play, despite the numerous faults with this game. There are all sorts of things that are wrong with this slot, from typos to poor colour choices and dubious audio. Despite all that, and despite the competition it faces from all the other classic slots on the market which look just like Golden Hand but play better, Golden Hand still has something about it. It’s certainly not a game you’d go out of your way to play, but if you happen to chance across it, you might as well give it a go. Simple pleasures don’t come much simpler or more pleasurable than this.
