Restoring a partnership

International Game Technology (IGT) will partner with the Kansas Lottery for another ten years after extending their agreements.

The new contract binds the two parties until December 2032; the company will use its Intelligen software to service the lottery with advanced technology designed to manage its gaming network, while also furthering the experience for gamblers. 

The lottery will also receive access to network communications, business intelligence tools, and disaster recovery technology.

IGT and its plans

IGT first partnered with Kansas in 2008, ten years after the Kansas lotto officially opened. The most recent contract negotiation between the two resulted in a three-year extension (from 2019 to 2022); the new long-term commitment shows the growing trust between the two.

“IGT’s upgraded Intelligen system will provide the Kansas Lottery with a suite of comprehensive tools designed to drive revenues and offer its players world-class gaming experiences,” said Jay Gendron, IGT’s chief operating officer for global lottery. “Intelligen’s improved system performance will also allow the lottery to manage its vast network with maximum efficiency over the next decade and position the lottery to deploy future functionality to meet the needs of the evolving gaming landscape.”

IGT, the “leader in the regulated electronic gaming machine industry,” as noted on the company website, has deployed its Intelligen system to great effect worldwide. Renewing the deal with the Kansas lottery should help continue the growth of a rapidly-expanding midwest betting industry.

The lotto sponsor will also provide the state with instant tickets and printing services. News of this comes shortly after IGT’s Money Mania launched its wide-area progressive game.    

Kansas keeps moving forward

Kansas has been a part of several advancements designed to progress its gambling platform.

The state recently agreed on a sports betting measure that could lead to legal wagering as early as September. The Bill goes into effect on July 1 and has a must-launch date of January 1, 2023.

Missouri recently failed to push sports betting through, whereas nearby states Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska have legal operations. Kansas’ commitment to developing its lottery system, on top of the legal pushes, shows a commitment to developing its gaming opportunities.
