Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz
Nate Diaz got rialled up by an employee of Betr during a press conference for his fight with Jake Paul.

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz got an early start on their Saturday boxing match when “Derek,” an employee for the Paul-co-owned Betr Media, inspired an expletive-laced rant from Diaz.

a series of expletives and homophobic slurs

Derek, full name Derek Sullivan, said that he couldn’t wait to “watch Jake [Paul] knock [Diaz] the f— out” during Thursday’s press conference. A visibly upset Diaz stood up from the table he was sitting at, invited Derek to join him on stage, and then launched a series of expletives and homophobic slurs in his direction:

Derek is no stranger to stirring up anger in the Diaz camp. During a May presser, he told Diaz that he could beat his brother Nick (a retired MMA combatant) in a fight.

Diaz insinuated that he would set his team onto Derek and said that he deserved to have his “f-cking a-s whipped.” Paul told Derek to “shut up,” apologized to Diaz, and said that he was going to fire him later (he did not). Derek later apologized.

Paul and Diaz are scheduled for a ten-round cruiserweight bout with a catchweight of 185 pounds on Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Paul is a sizable favorite at -450 on DraftKings, while Diaz is +320.

Paul co-founded Betr as a micro-betting-focused company last year, alongside sports betting industry veteran Joey Levy. The company created Betr Media to add a multimedia content arm to its portfolio.
