You might not know the name, but Tim Naki is fast becoming a major star on Instagram.

Every day, the New Zealand-born content creator is betting 10 cents on Blackjack for every Instagram follower he has. It’s a mission that he started 65 days ago, beginning with a $1,500 bet. His follower count has since risen to more than 700,000, meaning his latest stake amounted to a staggering $70,000 on Thursday.

just know we’re gonna have a better day than OJ Simpson”

Naki, real name Tim Myers, won that $70,000 bet for a total of $140,000 including his stake. He did so in trademark style, dishing out one-liners throughout. “Whatever happens today, just know we’re gonna have a better day than OJ Simpson,” Naki said, in reference to the death of the controversial former NFL star.

Speaking with Flames Nation recently, Naki – who is based in Canada – explained his reasons for starting the challenge. “I’ve always loved a bit of a punt,” he said, adding: “I just thought it would be a bit of a gag.” He explained that he spends aroud 15 to 20 minutes pacing his apartment before placing the bets as he tries to work up the courage.

According to his Instagram, Naki is up $452,497 over the course of the challenge. He claims that after winning the first four bets in a row, he has been in profit the whole way. However, he also has a warning for anyone looking to replicate that success: “This is not a way to make money,” he told Flame Nation. “It is just a stupid, insane, nonsensical run that makes no f*cking sense, but it’s happening.”

Naki also plays slots on Stake-backed streaming platform Kick, where he has around 2,600 followers.
