An online casino operator in the Netherlands must pay €280,000 ($301,814) every week as punishment for operating without a license. The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoritet (KSA), has dished out the sizable penalty to Sarah Eternal SRP.

It will pay the penalty each week that the site remains active

The KSA has told Sarah Eternal that it must remove access to its iGaming site casinosky within the country. It will pay the penalty each week that the site remains active. Although the firm will pay each week, the maximum amount the company will have to fork out is €840,000 ($905,415).

KSA investigators found that they could access the casinosky website from the Netherlands. They also claim that players can wager on the site even if it clearly states they are based in the Netherlands.

“Providers who do not have a license for the Dutch market must do everything they can to ensure that Dutch players cannot come to them to gamble, for example by setting up an IP block,” the KSA stated.

Last month, Dutch MPs passed two motions, one banning slots and the other banning online gambling ads. The motions are not law yet as they will need approval from the Minister for Legal Protection in the Netherlands first. He has never expressed a wish to add such curtailments.
